SecureSafe (Next): How the new version differs – and what's coming next

January 6, 2026

With the new SecureSafe (Next), we are taking an important step toward more modern, barrier-free, and cross-device use. The new version brings noticeable improvements for everyday use—especially in web and mobile use.

At the same time, there are features that are not yet available and are currently in the planning or evaluation stage.

In this article, we provide a transparent overview:
What's new? What improvements can you expect? And what features are coming next?

The most important new features in the web version

More control through integrated user management

Access and permissions can now be managed directly within the application.
The advantage for you is that you can keep track of who has access to which content at all times, without any detours or complicated settings. This makes sharing files and access easier and more secure.

Optimized for all devices

The user interface has been fully optimized for desktop, tablet, and smartphone.
Your advantage: SecureSafe feels familiar on every device—whether you're working on your laptop or want to quickly look something up while on the go.

Accessibility according to WCAG 2.2 AA

SecureSafe (Next) meets the requirements of WCAG 2.2 AA and provides better support for assistive technologies.
Your advantage: Barrier-free use ensures that SecureSafe is accessible and easy to use for as many people as possible.

More languages for more users

In addition to German and English, SecureSafe is now also available in French and Italian.
The advantage for you is that you can use SecureSafe in the language you feel most comfortable with.

Currently still limited functions (web)

The advantage for you: fewer intermediate steps and faster saving of important documents—exactly when you need them.

File search in the app

An integrated search function finds files by name or type.
The advantage for you: even with lots of stored documents, you can keep track of everything and find content in seconds.

More flexible download and open flows
